KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia marked its eighth consecutive appearance at Who’s Next Paris 2025 with a dedicated pavilion spotlighting sustainable fashion and cultural heritage, reinforcing its image as a rising source of global fashion creativity.
The event also coincided with the 75th anniversary of Indonesia–France diplomatic relations, adding symbolic weight to the country’s cultural diplomacy efforts.
Held from September 6 to 8, 2025, at one of Europe’s largest fashion trade shows, the Indonesian Pavilion was organized by the Indonesian Embassy in Paris in collaboration with the Talent Indonesia program.
According to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Paris on Monday, September 8, 2025, Who’s Next serves as a key barometer for international fashion trends, bringing together buyers, designers, and industry players from around the world.
“This exhibition is more than a product showcase. It’s a gateway for Indonesian fashion to enter European and global markets,” said Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohamad Oemar, as quoted by antaranews.com.
This year, Indonesia’s participation emphasized sustainable fashion, material innovation, and the creative strength of local designers, aligning with global trends in circular economy and green fashion.
The pavilion featured four batik brands supported by the Jakarta Provincial Administration and PT Pelindo, all of which are micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Their collections blended traditional Indonesian motifs with contemporary design, highlighting eco-friendly dyeing techniques and sustainable materials.
To deepen international appreciation for batik, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, the pavilion also hosted live workshops demonstrating batik-making techniques to global visitors.
Since 2022, Indonesia has consistently taken part in Paris Fashion Week events, including Who’s Next, through its flagship Talent Indonesia initiative. This year’s participation holds particular significance as part of the broader celebration of bilateral ties between Indonesia and France, underscoring the role of fashion, art, and creativity in cultural diplomacy.
The Indonesian Pavilion at Who’s Next Paris 2025 is expected to serve not only as a platform for market expansion but also as a meaningful contribution to the global fashion industry. ***
