KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia has reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to championing the rights and freedom of the Palestinian people, with Foreign Minister Sugiono declaring that the nation will remain at the forefront of global efforts to end the suffering caused by the Zionist Israeli regime.

Speaking at the Aksi Bela Palestina (Pro-Palestine Solidarity Rally) held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta, Sugiono emphasized that Indonesia’s solidarity with Palestine is rooted in shared history, deep emotional ties, and a moral obligation to oppose all forms of oppression.

“To my brothers and sisters in Gaza and Palestine, you are not alone. You will always be remembered, fought for, and cared for by the people of Indonesia,” Sugiono said in his address, as quoted by antaranews.com.

In a written statement confirmed on Sunday, August 3, 2025, the Foreign Minister underscored Indonesia’s desire for Palestine to experience the same freedom that Indonesians cherish. He noted that Indonesia continues to take concrete action through international advocacy and humanitarian aid.

“Hundreds of billions of rupiah and millions of dollars have already been sent. This is our tangible expression of solidarity as a nation,” Sugiono stated.

Indonesia’s support for Palestine aligns with the mandate of President Prabowo Subianto, who has prioritized the Palestinian cause since taking office on October 20, 2024. According to Sugiono, President Prabowo firmly believes that Palestinian independence is part of Indonesia’s broader struggle against colonialism.

“Indonesia firmly rejects the genocide being carried out against the Palestinian people by Zionist Israel,” Sugiono said. “We continue to oppose Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians from their homeland.”

He reiterated that the Indonesian government will persist in advocating for the full independence of Palestine on the global stage.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military has launched relentless attacks on Gaza, ignoring international calls for a ceasefire. The bombardments, coupled with a blockade and disrupted aid distribution, have devastated the region, collapsing its healthcare system and causing widespread death from starvation. More than 60,000 Palestinians have reportedly been killed. ***
