KBRN, Jakarta: The Egyptian government has reaffirmed its commitment to developing a scholarship program for Indonesian students. This was conveyed by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Yasser Hassan Farag Elshemy, during the Dialogue between French-speaking Countries’ Ambassadors and Indonesian Students event as part of Semaine De La Francophonie Week 2025 held at Jakarta State University on Thursday (March 20, 2025).
Ambassador Yasser stated that the scholarship development program will be introduced by the end of this year. He also mentioned that Egypt has its own policy regarding scholarships for Indonesian students.
“Egypt has a different policy regarding the scholarships offered to our brothers and sisters in Indonesia. As you know, we are the country that provides the largest number of scholarships for students here, who will later continue their education at universities,” he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Indonesian students are warmly welcomed to pursue their education at universities in Egypt in various fields such as medicine, engineering, pharmacy, science, and business.
Egypt’s support for Indonesian students' education has also drawn attention from the Indonesian government. In December 2024, President Prabowo Subianto visited Cairo, Egypt. During the visit, he expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting more than 15,000 Indonesian students currently studying at Al-Azhar University.
