KBRN, Jakarta: Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid said at the 5th ASEAN Digital Ministerial Meeting (ADGMIN) in Bangkok, Thailand that Indonesia firmly supported the Digital Bangkok Declaration to strengthen the sustainability of the digital sector in the ASEAN region.

“Indonesia fully supports the measures in the Bangkok Digital Declaration which are in line with our vision to strengthen digital inclusion and encourage technological innovation,” said Minister Meutya in Bangkok on Thursday as quoted by rri.co.id.

She also said that digital transformation must benefit all levels of society, including those in remote areas. The key to success in ASEAN's digital transformation is regional collaboration.

The declaration includes a number of strategic steps by strengthening regional cooperation to anticipate crime in the digital world and highlights the development of artificial intelligence (AI) governance.

Minister Meutya explained that Indonesia had developed the Indonesia Digital Vision (IDV) program or better known as the Digital Indonesia Vision (VID) 2045. This is an Indonesian initiative to expand connectivity, improve digital literacy and develop digital technology talents in Indonesia.

She explained that the initiative supported the vision of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025 and strengthened ASEAN's role as the center of the world's digital economy. This is because the ASEAN digital economy sector is projected to reach a value of Trillion USD by 2030.

Apart from being a foundation for ASEAN's digital future, the declaration also aims to strengthen cooperation between countries in the region. As one of the largest digital economies in ASEAN, Indonesia plays an active role in promoting inclusive and sustainable digital transformation.

In addition to the Digital Bangkok Declaration meeting, the Minister also held bilateral meetings with a number of other Ministers, such as Singapore's Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo.

The meeting discussed a number of strategic cooperation, especially in the digital sector. One of them was child protection policies in the digital world. ***
