RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia is strengthening its fight against childhood stunting by producing Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) locally, in collaboration with the German Federal Government and PT Bayer Indonesia. The initiative aims to ensure pregnant women across the Archipelago have consistent access to high-quality nutrition.

Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono explained in Jakarta on Thursday, August 20, 2026, that MMS is formulated under global UNIMMAP (United Nations International Multiple Micronutrient Antenatal Preparation) standards and contains 15 essential vitamins and minerals and is considered more effective than standard iron tablets in preventing stunting.

“The presence of local MMS production facilities in Cimanggis is crucial to guarantee that every pregnant mother, even in remote areas, receives the best nutrition consistently,” Dante said, as quoted by Antara.

German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Reem Alabali Radovan, emphasized that the partnership reflects sustainable investment with direct impact on maternal and child health. “Through this development policy, we want to continue building bridges of cooperation that bring tangible benefits to communities,” she noted.

PT Bayer Indonesia has invested USD 5.58 million to expand research and production lines. The Cimanggis facility can produce up to 1.2 billion MMS tablets annually, enough to meet the needs of 4.9 million pregnant women in Indonesia each year, while also supplying exports to 42 countries.

Head of Bayer Supply Center Healthcare Cimanggis, Priscilla Silvan Praritza, confirmed readiness to deliver world-class MMS while maintaining environmentally responsible operations. The plant is equipped with rooftop solar panels covering 1.66 hectares, supplying 43 percent of its energy needs and reducing carbon emissions by 2,073 tons annually. ***
