RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesia's Ministry of Health received and handed over a donation of medical equipment to support the recovery of healthcare services following the hydrometeorological disaster in Sumatra. The donation was handed over at the Indonesian Ministry of Health office in Jakarta on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The donation was the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the North Sumatra Youth Group. The group was initiated by Pahala Nugraha Mansury, Bara Hasibuan, Veranita Yosephine Sinaga, and several other volunteers through community-based fundraising activities.
Indonesia's Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, expressed his appreciation for the donors' concern and contribution in helping accelerate the recovery of healthcare facilities affected by the disaster. "This kind of collaboration between the government and the community is crucial in accelerating the recovery of healthcare services after the disaster, especially at the community health centers (Puskesmas), which are at the forefront of public healthcare services," Minister Budi conveyed.
The Minister also stated that the government has allocated a recovery budget for affected hospitals, while support for Puskesmas continues to be strengthened through various collaborations and additional budget requests. The aid will be distributed to community health centers (Puskesmas) in eight disaster-affected districts/cities: Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, East Aceh, Central Aceh, Langkat, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, and Agam.
Bara Hasibuan, a donor representative from the North Sumatra Youth, stated that this donation came from a charity run held in early 2026, attended by approximately 2,000 participants. The event successfully raised funds, which were then allocated to support the recovery of disaster-affected areas in Aceh and North Sumatra.
Meanwhile, , Head of the East Aceh District Health Office, Rijalul Fikri, expressed his appreciation for the medical equipment received. He stated that the assistance significantly improved health services, particularly in disaster-affected areas. "Our community health centers are now operating normally, but they still require repairs and strengthening of their facilities," he said.
The Ministry of Health continuously promotes strengthening the resilience of the national health system. These efforts are being strengthened through cross-sectoral synergy, including community and business participation in supporting health services in disaster-affected areas.
