RRI.CO.ID, Surakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Health officially launched the integration of Social Security Administration Agency (BPJS) Health Services at the Emirates Indonesia Cardiology Hospital (RS KEI) in Surakarta on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Through this integration, international-standard cardiac services at RS KEI are now accessible to all National Health Insurance (JKN) participants.

In his remarks, the Indonesia's Vice Minister of Health, Dante Saksono Harbuwono, called this step a significant milestone in strengthening the national health system, particularly in the management of catastrophic diseases. He likened hospitals to vital organs, while BPJS Kesehatan is the bloodstream that supports the continuity of healthcare services.

He stated that strengthening cardiac services is deemed urgent based on data from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), which records more than 600,000 deaths in Indonesia each year due to cardiovascular disease. "Today, these high-standard facilities are no longer an unaffordable luxury, but a right accessible to all," Dante said.

Since its inauguration in November 2025, this Class A specialized heart hospital has served 1,053 patients and achieved Full Accreditation. KEI Hospital is also equipped with various cutting-edge technologies, such as a cath lab, hybrid operating theater, CT scan, and MRI, capable of handling complex procedures, including mitral valve replacement.

Similarly, the Director of Health Service Guarantees at BPJS Kesehatan, Abdi Kurniawan, assessed the presence of KEI Hospital as strategic in breaking down geographical barriers and expediting the treatment of heart patients. "In heart care, every second counts. The concept of the golden period should not just be a medical theory, but must become an operational standard," Abdi said.

He also conveyed four strategic messages to KEI Hospital management: service quality transformation (quality over volume), seamless digitalization of services, strengthening the referral network, and humanistic service. According to him, these are investments to maintain the productivity of the Indonesian nation.
