RRI.CO.ID, Pati - Indonesian Vice Minister of Health, Benjamin Paulus Oktavianus, reviewed the implementation of a free health checkup program for families of tuberculosis (TB) patients at the Kutoharjo Village Hall, Pati District, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The examinations included health screenings and X-rays as an effort to early detect tuberculosis transmission in the community.

On the occasion, the Vice Minister of Health emphasized that the current national health program focuses on two main priorities: stunting management and tuberculosis eradication. "Indonesia currently ranks second in the world for tuberculosis cases. This must be a serious concern. We want TB cases to be suppressed immediately," Benjamin said.

Based on data from the previous year, Pati Regency recorded 2,658 tuberculosis cases. This figure is of concern to the central government because it has the potential to lead to wider transmission if not addressed promptly.

Through the Free Health Checkup program, the government is targeting screening at at least 120 locations throughout Pati Regency. This activity is being carried out extensively, down to the village level through integrated health posts (Posyandu) and hamlet offices.

While conducting health checks, the government is also preparing a home renovation program for tuberculosis patients living in inadequate housing. This effort aims to improve environmental factors, such as poor ventilation, which can accelerate the spread of the disease.

Currently, 34 homes in Pati Regency have been registered for renovation assistance. In addition, the patients' families will also undergo re-screening.
