RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has officially launched the T1 Syringe, the nation’s first halal-certified syringe produced locally, marking not only a business milestone but also a national platform for education and advocacy on the use of halal and high-quality medical devices.

“This initiative is expected to strengthen the independence of Indonesia’s medical industry and boost global confidence in locally made healthcare products,” Head of the Ministry of Health’s Working Group on Domestic Medical Device Utilization, Zulfikar Biruni, said in Jakarta on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara.

The T1 Syringe was jointly introduced by Terumo Corporation and PT Oneject Indonesia, combining more than a century of Terumo’s expertise in advanced medical technology with Oneject’s pioneering role as Indonesia’s first producer of Auto Disable Syringes (ADS).

Designed for daily use by healthcare professionals, the syringe emphasizes halal compliance while meeting international quality standards.

It is manufactured using Electron Beam (E-Beam) sterilization technology, a chemical-free process that leaves no residue and is more environmentally friendly than conventional methods. This ensures every syringe is sterile, safe, and ready for use straight from production.

Chairman and Managing Director of Terumo Asia Holdings, Toshiyuki Akaike, described the launch as a significant milestone for Indonesia’s medical device industry and a step toward strengthening its role in the global supply chain.

“With the T1 Syringe, we bring three core commitments: Halal, E-Beam Irradiation, and Globally Trusted. We believe healthcare must be inclusive, safe, and sustainable without compromising international standards,” Akaike said.

PT Oneject Indonesia’s President Director, Jahja Tear Tjahjana, highlighted the collaboration as a symbol of integrating halal values, patient safety, environmental sustainability, and global quality into one essential medical product.

“The T1 Syringe is Indonesia’s first halal-certified syringe produced through local manufacturing. This certification ensures that every patient can receive care with complete peace of mind, reflecting respect for individuality and cultural diversity,” he explained.

PT Terumo Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the country’s medical sector by supporting government policies aimed at building a self-reliant medical industry through the use of locally produced, globally competitive healthcare devices. ***
