KBRN, Jakarta: The Health Ministry reported that from January to February 16, 2025, there have been 10,752 cases of dengue fever (DBD). In 2024, there were a total of 250,000 DBD cases.
"As of February 16, 2025, dengue cases have reached 10,752 with an incidence rate (IR) of approximately 3.79 per 100,000," said Ina Agustina Isturini, the Ministry of Health Infectious Diseases Director, in Jakarta on Thursday, February 20, 2025, as quoted by rri.co.id.
The number of deaths from the disease has reached 48, with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of 0.8. Ina further said that the public must pay special attention to DBD, as it is expected that the peak of dengue outbreaks will occur between January and March 2025.
"Since 2016, the trend shows that DBD usually increases at the end of the year," she added.
According to Ina, the increase typically occurs from October to December, peaking between January and March. "After that, there is a decline in March or April," she said.
Therefore, Ina urged the public to remain vigilant in caring for family members or relatives affected by DBD, as the mortality rate for this disease is relatively high if treatment is delayed.
"In 2024, the cumulative number of dengue cases in Indonesia reached nearly 250,000," she said.
Of that total, 1,418 cases resulted in death. ***
