RRI.CO.ID, Singapore - The Director General of Social Forestry, Catur Endah Prasetiani, was one of the speakers in a thematic session at the 2026 Philanthropy Asia Summit (PAS) International Forum held in Singapore. The session's theme was "Building a Multi-stakeholder Model for Climate, Nature, and Indigenous Land Tenure Rights: Exploring the Intergovernmental Pledge at COP 30."

This forum brought together philanthropists, leaders, community leaders, and civil society organizations to strengthen collaboration in addressing various global challenges, including in the forestry and environmental sectors. The discussion also featured speakers from various sectors, including representatives from Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the Tenure Facility, the Customary Territory Registration Agency (BRWA), and the Indigenous Peoples of Asia Solidarity Fund (IPAS Fund), private sector representatives from PT Bintuni Utama Murni Wood Industries, and philanthropists from the Earthshot Prize.

In a press release received by RRI VOI from the Ministry of Forestry on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Catur Endah reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to managing and designating 1.4 million hectares of Customary Forests, as announced at the COP 30 in Belém, Brazil. She also shared various lessons learned regarding inclusive and equitable forest management policies through the Social Forestry program.

Regarding implementation, Catur Endah stated that the government has prepared several technical instruments to accelerate the realization of the commitment to manage and designate Customary Forests. These instruments include the establishment of a Task Force for the Acceleration of Customary Forest Status Determination and the development of a Roadmap for the Acceleration of Customary Forest Status Determination as a guideline for the management, verification, and designation of Customary Forests.

To date, 95 proposals have been received and are ready for verification, covering an area of 1,416,894 hectares across 30 districts in 15 provinces. Meanwhile, 23 proposals were verified in 2025, and 12 of them were designated as Customary Forests.

In the final session of the discussion forum, it was emphasized that the key to the successful acceleration of Customary Forests is pentahelix-based multi-stakeholder collaboration, optimizing the strategic roles of stakeholders such as NGOs, academics, government, the private sector, and the media. Through this synergy, it is hoped that mutual recognition will be recognized, while simultaneously encouraging equitable co-management among stakeholders, including indigenous communities, to achieve sustainable management of Customary Forests.

Furthermore, the speakers agreed that multi-stakeholder collaboration plays a crucial role in promoting sustainable forestry based on communities and local wisdom, and is part of a climate solution that deserves greater investment. The Philanthropy Asia Summit (PAS) 2026 is an international forum that brings together various stakeholders to encourage collaboration in addressing global issues, including climate change, environmental conservation, and strengthening the rights of indigenous communities.
