RRI.CO.ID, Purwokerto Indonesia's president Prabowo Subianto in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, reaffirmed the government’s priority on waste management. He emphasized that the government aims to complete its waste management program within the next three years.

"From the central government, we will push this forward, and I will provide direct assistance so that we can develop, improve, expand, and make it more effective," Prabowo said during his visit to the Banyumas Integrated Waste Processing Facility.

"We will develop everything... Waste processing is now a national priority. Within two to three years, we must bring waste across Indonesia under control," he continued.

Prabowo praised the "very good, breakthrough" initiative, where simple technology is used to process waste into various products. He also lauded the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, who envisioned about 15 such facilities in the province.

"So, I think this is very effective, and it is an example for many provinces (and) regencies, and even people from other countries are coming here," he said.

During the visit, the president highlighted that the facility can produce waste-based plastic roof tiles. He said they can be used to support the national house renovation program.

"The roof tiles are quite effective, and they're said to be quite affordable. Perhaps this could fit into our budget for house renovation assistance," he said.

Earlier in February, Prabowo wanted to replace zinc roofs used on many houses in Indonesia, which he considers uncomfortable and unsightly. The large-scale replacement is set as part of a national movement, "Indonesia Asri", to create a cleaner environment.

The visit to the waste processing facility is a part of Prabowo's larger visit to Central Java. He also made a pilgrimage to his ancestors' graves and visited other locations in Cilacap Regency, south of Banyumas.
