RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of the Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, along with the Indonesian Buddhist Youth Generation (GEMARBUDHI), poured 10,000 liters of eco enzyme into the Jeletreng River. The collaborative action successfully broke the MURI record for the largest pouring of eco enzyme as a tangible symbol of environmental concern.
Minister Hanif, expressed high appreciation for the involvement of the younger generation in efforts to restore the quality of polluted river water. "We are very proud of the active participation of the younger generation in the concrete actions to restore the Cisadane River." "May this activity inspire the entire community to participate in preserving the environment," as quoted by the Kemenlh website, Sunday, 8 March 2026.
This step is a quick response from the government to the pesticide pollution caused by the chemical warehouse fire in February 2026. The organophosphate compounds that entered the river are highly toxic to aquatic biota, causing mass fish deaths.
Ministry of the Environment (KLH) has taken decisive action by securing the remaining chemicals and setting up a surveillance line at the incident site. The government has also collaborated with BRIN to prepare a bioremediation process if the pesticide content in the river sediment remains high.
In his directive, Hanif emphasized the importance of preserving water resources for the sustainability of life in the future. "Rivers are not just the lifeblood of today's existence, but also the determinants of the quality of life for our children and grandchildren in the future. Let's show the world that we are capable of preserving our rivers, because our rivers are our future,” Hanif said
The action of pouring eco enzyme is one of the strategic steps to comprehensively restore the quality of the Cisadane River ecosystem. Active participation from various elements of society is considered the key to making the river clean and healthy again.
The government aims for this river flow to soon be beneficial again for the living needs of the surrounding residents in a sustainable manner. This collective effort is expected to maintain ecological stability for the health of the environment for future generations.
