RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jember University (Unej) in East Java welcomed a delegation from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) on Wednesday, June 17, underscoring the campus’s growing commitment to international collaboration, particularly within the ASEAN region.

Unej Rector Iwan Taruna received the delegation at the Senate Meeting Room of the Rectorate Building, emphasizing that international networking is a vital part of improving higher education quality.

“Partnerships with ASEAN universities carry strategic value, supported by geographic proximity and shared development challenges,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

The visit provided a platform to deepen institutional ties and explore potential academic cooperation. Secretary to the Director of UMT’s Institute of Oceanography and Environment (INOS), Rafidah Binti Tah, praised Unej’s warm welcome and noted the opportunity to exchange information and experiences.

“We were able to learn more about Unej’s programs and activities, while discussing future collaboration opportunities,” she said.

As a symbol of friendship, both institutions exchanged souvenirs. Discussions also highlighted opportunities beyond student exchanges, including faculty mobility, joint research, and collaborative publications. Participants agreed that shared academic strengths between Unej and UMT could serve as a strong foundation for future initiatives.

Through this visit, Unej and UMT reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening institutional relations and opening new avenues for cooperation in education, research, and human resource development. ***
