RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - More than 200 delegates from 61 schools across Greater Jakarta and surrounding regions gathered for the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) Presents Al-Muhajirien MUN, held on Saturday, April 11–12, 2026 in Bekasi, West Java.
The event highlighted the role of Model UN as a transformative learning experience, equipping students with global perspectives and leadership skills.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation where students role-play as diplomats, representing countries and debating global issues, while learning negotiation, diplomacy, and problem-solving skills.
Organized by International Global Network (IGN) in collaboration with Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai, the conference was attended by Indonesian Minister of Elemntary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti and Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono.
IGN President Muhammad Fahrizal emphasized that MUN is more than a simulation, describing it as “a transformative learning experience” that exposes students to global issues, diverse perspectives, and real-world diplomacy. Participation, he said, reflects initiative, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Chair of Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai, Syafiudin, noted that the program is part of the Al-Muhajirien Global Initiative for Leadership Excellence (AGILE), designed to integrate global perspectives with practical leadership training.
Minister Abdul Mu’ti voiced support for IGN’s efforts to strengthen youth capacity, sharing motivational insights about the power of dreams and encouraging delegates to aspire boldly. He added that the program aligns with President Prabowo’s mission to build a resilient generation ahead of Indonesia’s “Golden Generation 2045", and with his own vision of “Quality Education for All".
The conference featured two councils: UNESCO, discussing “Tackling Cyberbullying: Ensuring Safe and Friendly Online Spaces for Students”, and WHO, addressing “Safeguarding Indigenous Knowledge of Traditional Medicine While Ensuring Scientific Validation.”
Experienced chairs from Spain, Malaysia, and Indonesia guided the sessions to ensure interactive and constructive debate. ***
