RRI.CO.ID, Sumatra - The number of schools that have signed Cooperation Agreements (PKS) for the Revitalization of Educational Units (Educational Unit) to restore learning after the disaster in Sumatra has reached 1,741 schools, with a total value of IDR 1,254 trillion. This is based on data from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) compiled by the National Secretariat for Disaster-Safe Education Units (Seknas SPAB).
According to a press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Sunday, 1 March 2026, the Director General of Early Childhood Education, Primary and Secondary Education, Gogot Suharwoto, emphasized that accelerating learning recovery is the government's top priority to ensure students' right to learn is fulfilled during emergencies.
"Every child has the right to return to learning in safe and comfortable conditions. Therefore, accelerating budget disbursement and improving aid distribution mechanisms are concrete steps to ensure disaster-affected learning spaces can be quickly restored and learning can resume," Gogot said.
The disbursement process was delayed due to an addendum to the Cooperation Agreements (PKS) to accommodate additional funding within the revitalization menu. The plan is to add 248 schools to the PKS program next week, with disbursement still in progress for schools that have already implemented the Cooperation Agreements (PKS)program.
In addition, the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education, through the Education Financing Service Center (Puslatdik), is also unblocking Rp 21.6 billion in government assistance funds (Banpem). This process is expected to be completed next week so that it can be immediately disbursed to meet learning needs during the transition from emergency to recovery.
Meanwhile, IDR 220 billion in teacher assistance has been disbursed to approximately 36,000 teachers, with verification of another 23,000 teachers still underway. Gogot hopes that the school revitalization process in affected areas will resume quickly.
