RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Corner, initiated by the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo and supported by the Jakarta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), is being positioned as a new one-stop gateway to the Japanese market. Beyond showcasing leading physical products from Indonesia, the exhibit is designed as a comprehensive platform to promote investment opportunities, tourism, and Indonesia’s cultural wealth.
“If so far we have built relations through meetings, going forward we must build trust through the presence of the Indonesian Corner, which can serve as a permanent showcase connecting Indonesian products with the needs of the Japanese market,” said Kadin Jakarta Chairperson, Diana Dewi, in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday, August 2, 2026.
During her visit to the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Diana held a direct discussion with Indonesia’s Ambassador to Japan, Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir. The two discussed various opportunities to expand trade cooperation, investment, and business partnerships between Indonesia and Japan.
At the meeting, Kadin Jakarta was accompanied by its management ranks and 10 member companies that had previously taken part in a series of business matching sessions in Tokyo.
They also shared experiences, opportunities, and potential collaborations that had been explored with Japanese companies as a first step toward more concrete business cooperation. This is especially relevant as diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan will enter their 70th year in 2028.
“This momentum is a great opportunity to strengthen ties between the two countries, not only in diplomacy, but also through increased trade, investment, innovation, and collaboration among business players,” said Diana, as quoted by Antara.
For that reason, Kadin Jakarta said it is ready to support a range of economic programs run by the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, including the development of Indonesian Corners at various Indonesian Consular Offices in Japan.
The program serves as a promotional space presenting information about Indonesia, while also showcasing trade, investment, tourism, culture, and flagship national products.
According to Diana, the presence of Indonesian Corners can become a new entry point for Kadin Jakarta members to introduce products, services, and investment opportunities to prospective business partners across Japan.
As a follow-up, Kadin Jakarta will strengthen cooperation by building a pipeline of Japanese companies that could be regularly matched with association members.
The scheme is expected to create more sustainable business relationships. In this way, business matching would no longer be merely ceremonial, but would grow into partnerships that generate real transactions.
Diana stressed that the business community needs an ecosystem that can consistently bring together the needs of both sides. Therefore, Kadin Jakarta is ready to serve as a bridge connecting Jakarta-based businesses with strategic partners in Japan.
She added that Japan remains one of Indonesia’s most strategic economic partners. With Japan’s reputation in industrial quality, technology, and innovation, as well as the large potential of the Indonesian market, cooperation between the two countries is expected to deliver greater value for the business world in the future. ***
