  • Even though Bridgestone exports to around 70 countries, the industry is dealing with local natural rubber shortages and strict European environmental rules.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta — The Indonesian government remains committed to strengthening tire exports to international markets. This initiative aims to enhance the competitiveness of the national manufacturing industry on a global scale.

Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso met with Bridgestone Indonesia’s management at the Ministry of Trade office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The meeting discussed strategies for expanding exports and addressing global trade barriers.

“In principle, we want to continue strengthening dialogue with the business community,” he said, according to the ministry's press release. “If there are any obstacles to export or investment activities, please let us know.”

Bridgestone Indonesia President Director Mukiat Sutikno expressed his appreciation for the government’s full support. Currently, the company exports its products to about 70 countries.

However, the tire industry still faces domestic shortage of natural rubber. Additionally, the European Union’s deforestation-free regulation threatens exports.

The Ministry of Trade is ready to coordinate with other relevant ministries to address these obstacles. Bridgestone itself is committed to strengthening logistics efficiency through the use of dedicated facilities.

Bridgestone Indonesia has been operating since 1973 in Bekasi and Karawang, implementing the sustainability principles of the Bridgestone E8 Commitment. The company also capitalizes on its Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) status to improve logistics efficiency and export competitiveness.
