RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Trade Minister, Budi Santoso, urges labor-intensive industries to increase their exports by leveraging Indonesia’s various trade agreements. To support this effort, the Ministry of Trade continues to strengthen collaboration with export-oriented industry players. This collaboration aims to ensure that expanded market access and the increased competitiveness of domestic manufactured goods are fully utilized.

Trade Minister Budi shared this message while receiving representatives from Epson’s headquarters and PT Indonesia Epson Industry at the Ministry of Trade’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The delegation was led by Yamada Yoichi, Chief Operating Officer of the Printer Office & Home Solutions Operations Division at Seiko Epson Corporation. This meeting served as a forum for dialogue between the government and industry leaders to discuss boosting exports of Indonesian electronic products while gathering feedback on current challenges.

Minister Budi encouraged PT Indonesia Epson Industry (Epson) to increase its exports by taking advantage of Indonesia’s trade networks. “Indonesia has trade agreements that can benefit domestic products, including those from Epson. The government is constantly working to ensure that labor-intensive manufactured goods can secure more competitive tariffs in destination countries,” Minister Budi said following the meeting, quoted from the ministry's written press release.

According to him, Indonesia currently has 20 active trade agreements, 15 agreements in the process of ratification, and 11 agreements in the negotiation stage. He hopes that these ongoing trade agreements will open up broader market opportunities for Indonesian exports. Consequently, Budi hopes that Epson can seize these opportunities by increasing its export volume from Indonesia.

He also welcomed Epson’s plan to expand its export markets into Africa and the Middle East. This goal aligns with the Ministry of Trade’s efforts to expand export markets into non-traditional countries. The Ministry of Trade, through its network of trade representatives in 33 countries, is committed to helping exporters resolve obstacles in their target markets.

“The Ministry of Trade has trade attachés and Indonesia Trade Promotion Centers (ITPCs). If there are any obstacles in a destination country, as long as the products are from Indonesia, we are ready to help,” he stated.

Yamada Yoichi of Seiko Epson Corporation expressed his appreciation for the Ministry of Trade’s support in promoting the company’s export activities. He also expressed gratitude that Epson products are widely used throughout Indonesia. Additionally, Yoichi offered several suggestions regarding the company’s export activities, emphasizing the need for smooth logistics and regulatory certainty to support a strong business and export climate.
