RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Bank Indonesia (BI) has kept its policy rate (BI Rate) at 5.75 percent amid persistent external pressures. The central bank still sees room for Indonesia’s economy to grow in 2026.

BI Governor Destry Damayanti said that consumption, investment, and exports continue to support national economic activity. “Indonesia’s economic growth remains well‑maintained and needs to be continuously driven by optimizing various sources of economic growth,” Destry said during the BI Board of Governors’ Meeting (RDG) in Jakarta on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Household consumption remains stable, supported by government fiscal stimulus. Consumer confidence and income expectations are also beginning to strengthen.

Investment is growing steadily, supported by government investment, while BI considers that private investment needs to be strengthened to broaden the sources of economic growth.

On the external front, non‑oil and gas exports have increased in line with rising demand from several countries. BI also emphasized the need to maximize the impact of higher export commodity prices on the national economy.

“In the future, economic growth is projected to remain strong, supported by the implementation of various government stimulus programs, the recovery of economic actors’ confidence, and the optimization of various sources of economic growth,” Destry said.

BI maintains its projection for Indonesia’s economic growth in 2026 within the range of 4.9–5.7 percent. To support growth while maintaining stability, the central bank is continuing its mix of monetary, macroprudential, and payment system policies in close coordination with the government. ***
