RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Danantara Indonesia is accelerating the implementation of national downstreaming projects as part of efforts to increase the value added of Indonesia’s natural resources. A total of 26 strategic projects have been prepared, with a total investment of IDR 225 trillion (USD 12.44 billion), and are projected to create tens of thousands of jobs.
Danantara Indonesia’s Chief Operating Officer, who also serves as Head of the SOEs Management Agency (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, said that the program is designed to do more than attract investment. “This downstream processing initiative also creates jobs, drives regional economies, and ensures that the resulting value-added benefits are enjoyed domestically,” Dony said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday, July 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
The program is being implemented in two phases. Phase I began with a groundbreaking ceremony on February 6, featuring six priority projects across 13 locations valued at IDR 109 trillion and expected to employ 11,456 workers.
Next, Phase II began with a groundbreaking ceremony on April 29, featuring 10 priority projects across 13 locations. The investment value reached IDR 116 trillion and is projected to create 26,377 job opportunities.
“Downstreaming must provide tangible benefits for the national economy—not only in terms of investment but also in terms of its impact on the community,” said Dony.
All projects encompass the development of various strategic commodities, ranging from the construction of aluminum, stainless steel, and copper smelters to facilities for biojet fuel, bioethanol, palm oil processing, the coconut industry, and integrated chicken farming.
Through this acceleration of downstream processing, Danantara Indonesia aims to strengthen the foundation of the national industry, increase domestic value added, create new jobs, and foster more inclusive and sustainable economic growth. ***
