RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Layoff Task Force (Satgas PHK) has begun implementing measures to mitigate potential layoffs, including establishing an early warning system, verifying reports, facilitating bipartite resolutions, and intervening in cases deemed likely to trigger mass layoffs.
Manpower Minister Yassierli said the task force, led by State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi, not only monitors sectors at risk but also determines the necessary interventions to resolve labor issues early.
“There is already a Layoff Task Force, which issues early warnings for sectors with potential layoffs. The task force also discusses cases that require intervention,” Minister Yassierli said at the Senayan Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday, July 6, 2026, as reported by Antara.
He explained that the layoff process is lengthy, leaving room for preventive measures such as information verification, bipartite resolution, and mediation, if needed.
“The layoff process is long. Some issues are just news, which we must verify. Some we encourage bipartite parties to resolve first, and others we have to mediate,” he said.
Minister Yassierli cited one example when the task force intervened in response to soaring industrial gas prices, which threatened the sustainability of labor‑intensive sectors. “In some cases, such as gas shortages and high prices, the Layoff Task Force immediately intervenes,” he said.
In addition to the task force, the Manpower Ministry continues to strengthen programs to anticipate the impact of layoffs and improve workforce quality. These include the National Internship Program, National Vocational Training, and competency certification.
“We have internship programs, vocational training, and certification. We see these programs can be optimized to further develop the competencies of our human resources,” said Minister Yassierli. ***
