RRI.CO.ID, Taipei – Indonesian food products generated potential transactions worth USD5 million, or around Rp89.5 billion, at Food Taipei Mega Show 2026 in Taipei, Taiwan, held from June 24 to 27, 2026. The figure was recorded through the Indonesian Pavilion, which showcased products such as edible bird’s nests, seafood, healthy snacks, coffee, honey, spices, premium sauces and seasonings, low-calorie noodles, and processed fishery products.
Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, said the achievement showed growing confidence in Indonesian food products in the Taiwanese market.
“The potential transaction value of USD5 million shows that Indonesian food products have quality, added value, and competitiveness that are increasingly recognized in the Taiwanese market. This achievement proves that strong collaboration and the right promotional strategy can open wider trade opportunities for Indonesian products,” Puntodewi said, quoted from official statement on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Head of the Indonesian Economic and Trade Office in Taipei, Arif Sulistiyo, said Taiwan remains a strategic market for Indonesia due to its high purchasing power and its potential role as a gateway to East Asia.
“Taiwan is a strategic market for Indonesia. With a population of around 23 million and high purchasing power, Taiwan is a potential export destination as well as a gateway for Indonesian products to expand their reach into the East Asian market,” Arif added.
More than 20 Indonesian businesses took part in the pavilion, which drew around 500 visitors during the four-day event. The pavilion also hosted business matching sessions with importers, distributors, retailers, and food industry players from Taiwan and other countries.
Arif said edible bird’s nests, seafood, healthy snacks, spices, premium sauces, healthy instant noodles, and sago palm sugar were among the products attracting the strongest interest.
“I did not expect such strong enthusiasm from prospective buyers in Taiwan. We are very satisfied and happy. Taiwan is not only a promising market, but it can also serve as a hub for expanding our business network to international markets,” said Nunik, owner of premium seasoning producer Novio Indonesia.
KDEI Taipei plans to continue trade promotion through business matching, trade missions, and strategic partnerships to help Indonesian businesses expand their market access in Taiwan.
From January to April 2026, total trade between Indonesia and Taiwan reached USD3.10 billion, with Indonesia recording a surplus of USD80 million.
