RRI.CO.ID, Banyumas - Trade Minister Budi Santoso reaffirmed that the government continues to safeguard the availability and price stability of basic goods across Indonesia. The effort is being carried out through on-the-ground price monitoring, stronger distribution networks, and coordination between the central government, regional governments, and business actors.

The minister made the statement after inspecting the prices and supply of basic goods at Pasar Manis Market in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Based on the inspection, he said the supply of basic goods at Pasar Manis was relatively secure. Most strategic commodity prices were also under control and remained close to the government’s reference prices and ceiling prices.

“Today, one of the markets we visited was Pasar Manis in Banyumas. As we can see, prices are relatively good. Shallot and chili prices have also come down. The government, together with local governments, will continue to safeguard the availability of supplies and the price stability of basic goods,” he said, as quoted in an official statement.

Budi Santoso said the government was not only working to keep prices affordable for the public, but also to ensure that producers, including farmers and livestock breeders, receive fair prices. According to him, prices that are close to the government’s reference prices and maximum retail prices represent a balanced point for both producers and consumers.

“The maximum retail price and reference price are a meeting point between producers and buyers. If prices are too low, livestock breeders will suffer. If prices are above the maximum retail price, consumers will suffer. Therefore, we are seeking a balance between producers and buyers,” he said.

To maintain price stability nationwide, the Trade Ministry continues to monitor the development of basic goods prices through the Market and Basic Needs Monitoring System, known as SP2KP. The system compiles daily price reports from around 550 contributors spread across 514 regencies and cities throughout Indonesia.

“The Trade Ministry monitors prices in the regions through SP2KP. There are around 550 contributors in 514 regencies and cities who record price developments every day and report them to us through SP2KP. We receive the data daily as a basis for taking measures to stabilize prices and supplies,” he said.
