RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Pegadaian, the leading Indonesian state-owned non-bank financial institution, has officially expanded into an international market. Head of Corporate Communications, Riana Rifani, confirmed this in a written statement to RRI Voice of Indonesia on Sunday, 7 June 2026.
She also stated that the Timor-Leste branch is Pegadaian’s first international branch. She said the inauguration and operations have been underway for around two months.
“The Pegadaian Timor Leste Branch was inaugurated on 30 March 2026. It began serving customers on 1 April 2026, on Pegadaian’s anniversary date,” Riana said.
The branch is located at the Grand Diocese Colmera Complex, Av. Pres. Nicolau Lobato, Rai Nain, Colmera, Vera Cruz, Dili, Timor-Leste. Its services are currently limited to pawnbroking, with gold as the only type of collateral.
Riana explained, “The service is limited to pawnbroking. As for the type of collateral, it is currently restricted to gold; other items are still not accepted.”
Just two months after officially launching operations, Pegadaian’s international business in Timor-Leste has already shown strong growth. The strong market reception is reflected in the company’s performance over its first two months of operation through May 2026, during which its pawnbroking services processed more than 600 transactions, with total financing turnover exceeded USD 329,882.
Meanwhile, Pegadaian’s President Director, Damar Latri Setiawan, said that the operational success in Dili marks the first step toward one of the company’s long-term visions to become a leading regional pawn and gold financier. This success in Timor-Leste is expected to serve as a strategic blueprint for expanding into other potential countries within the ASEAN region in the future.
“Pegadaian’s presence in Timor-Leste serves an important mission. We provide not only conventional pawnshop products, but also continue to innovate to offer a diversified product range tailored to the specific needs of the local community,” Damar stated in a press release on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.
