RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang Regency - Indonesian Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri has urged the expansion of global market access for Indonesian halal products, aiming to maximize the growing potential of the national halal industry.

Dyah Roro emphasized that the Ministry of Trade continues to open new markets through cooperation and trade agreements, creating wider export opportunities for Indonesian businesses.

“Amid today’s geopolitical and economic dynamics, Indonesia must remain resilient. That is why the ministry is working to broaden market access through partnerships and trade deals with various countries, so that export opportunities for Indonesian enterprises can grow,” she said in a statement quoted by RRI on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The government is also targeting new markets in Latin America, Africa, North America, and other promising regions. Halal products are among the key commodities being promoted to penetrate international markets, supported by the rising global demand. The global halal economy is projected to reach USD 3.2 trillion by 2025.

According to Trade Ministry data, Indonesia’s halal product exports reached USD 63.42 billion in 2025, while imports stood at USD 12.24 billion, resulting in a surplus of USD 51.17 billion.

The government hopes this positive trend will continue, strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global halal market. “Although our halal trade balance already shows a healthy surplus, we expect exports to keep rising so that Indonesian halal products can dominate international markets,” Dyah Roro added.

To support this goal, the ministry is enhancing trade facilitation instruments, including the UMKM BISA Ekspor program, which recorded 278 trade activities involving 552 businesses and transactions worth USD 107.34 million between January and April 2026.

Entrepreneurs are also encouraged to use the Inaexport platform to showcase Indonesian products to global buyers and to seek guidance through Export Centers in Surabaya, Makassar, Batam, and Balikpapan.

The deputy minister further invited businesses to participate in Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026, scheduled for October 14–18, as a stage to highlight Indonesia’s halal products internationally.

Meanwhile, Vice Chair for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Rifda Ammarina, noted that Indonesia holds significant opportunities in the global halal industry. She stressed the importance of stronger promotion, certified halal products, and stakeholder synergy to advance Indonesia’s halal sector in the years ahead. (Diffa Sephiawardhani)
