  • OJK Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi said the capital market remained volatile throughout Q1-2026
  • The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) fell 18.49 percent as of March 31, 2026, but still posted 8.26 percent growth year-on-year

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Chairwoman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Board of Commissioners, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said the capital market remained volatile throughout the first quarter of 2026 (Q1-2026), driven by rising economic uncertainty and global financial market turbulence.

“The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed at 7,048.22 as of March 31, 2026, correcting by 18.49 percent. However, it still grew 8.26 percent year-on-year,” Friderica stated during a press conference of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) II in Jakarta on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

She noted that the stock market began to show signs of recovery in early May. On May 5, the JCI closed at 7,057.11, appreciating 1.44 percent month-to-date. According to her, this reflects improving domestic market sentiment.

Despite global pressures, corporate fundraising continued to grow. “As of May 5, fundraising in the capital market reached IDR 59.35 trillion (USD 3.41 billion) year-to-date,” Friderica said.

She added that this achievement demonstrates sustained investor interest in the Indonesian capital market, dominated by debt securities and bonds worth IDR 58.9 trillion.

Separately, Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) Chairman Anggito Abimanyu said the LPS continues to safeguard national financial system stability through optimal and efficient bank guarantee and resolution programs.

Anggito explained that LPS coverage of customer accounts remains above 90 percent, applying to commercial banks, Rural Banks (BPRs), and Sharia Rural Banks (BPRS) through March 2026.

He added that the share of deposits above the Deposit Insurance Rate (TBP) stands at 30 percent, a stable figure that has shown no increase or decrease.

Nevertheless, bank deposit interest rates have begun to decline gradually. “This trend is observed across depositor groups and bank categories,” Anggito said. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
