RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Pavilion recorded potential transactions worth USD 2.26 million at the INDEXPLUS 2026 exhibition in New Delhi, India. It also booked actual transactions totaling USD 151,000.

Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, said India is one of the most promising export markets for furniture. The Ministry is encouraging furniture businesses, including micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), to study Indian consumer trends and intensify exports.

“Indonesia’s participation in INDEXPLUS 2026 serves as momentum to strengthen the penetration of our furniture products in the Indian market. The Ministry is encouraging Indonesian furniture businesses, including MSMEs, to study Indian consumer trends and further intensify exports,” Puntodewi said in a statement on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

INDEXPLUS 2026 took place from August 7–9. The Indonesian Pavilion carried the theme “Indonesian Craftsmanship, Global Design” and covered approximately 156 m².

Puntodewi explained that export opportunities for Indonesian furniture to India continue to expand in line with evolving preferences among urban consumers. In major cities such as Mumbai, tastes are shifting from traditional furniture toward minimalist-modern or Scandinavian-industrial designs.

Four companies participated in the Indonesian Pavilion: PT Polaris Inovasindo Jaya, PT Chakra Naga Furniture, PT Woodline Global Furniture, and PT Woodie Homes Indonesia. They showcased furniture combining contemporary design, expert craftsmanship, premium materials, and Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage.

Before the exhibition, the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Chennai facilitated meetings between PT Polaris Inovasindo Jaya and PT Chakra Naga Furniture with prospective Indian buyers Kayu India and Timberworld. After the exhibition, PT Polaris Inovasindo Jaya met with Karara Mujassme India to explore potential collaboration.

PT Polaris Inovasindo Jaya representative Wahyu Setiawardani thanked the Ministry and ITPC Chennai for their support during INDEXPLUS 2026. She said the company’s debut at the exhibition produced positive results and opened promising opportunities for collaboration and exports.

“We identified many potential buyers and see excellent export prospects. We hope the Indonesian government can help streamline the certification process with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS),” Wahyu said.

Head of ITPC Chennai, Amesta Yisca Putri, reaffirmed her commitment to maximizing every available export opportunity, including facilitating direct business matchmaking with business operators and potential buyers in India.

“We actively facilitate direct business matchmaking with business operators and potential buyers in India. This ensures that potential collaborations can be realized into concrete transactions,” Amesta said.

In addition to offering products that match market preferences, Indonesian businesses must pay attention to competitiveness and trade regulations in India.

One way to do this is by utilizing the ASEAN-India Free Trade Area (AIFTA) scheme, which provides tariff benefits for Indonesian products in accordance with applicable regulations. (Gusti Panji)
