RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government is accelerating the development of a Financial Center in the Kura Kura Bali Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, announced this during a visit with several government officials.

“The government is finalizing regulations to serve as the foundation for establishing a financial sector SEZ in Bali,” Minister Airlangga said on Sunday, May 3, 2026. He explained that the SEZ is designed to accommodate various needs for building a financial center.

The financial center will eventually provide services ranging from management schemes to facilities that attract global investors. The strength of the Kura Kura Bali SEZ lies in its knowledge district ecosystem, serving as a strategic location for financial sector development.

It is designed to build an integrated innovation ecosystem that optimizes knowledge capital, education, and human resources as drivers of new economic growth in Bali.

By the first quarter of 2026, the Kura Kura Bali SEZ recorded investment realization of IDR 1.62 trillion (approx. USD 93.33 million) and created 2,146 jobs.

In addition to Kura Kura, Minister Airlangga also visited the Sanur SEZ, which is being developed as a health tourism ecosystem. “This will further strengthen Indonesia’s position as a world-class healthcare destination,” he said.

One of its flagship facilities is the Bali International Hospital (BIH), which has been operational since April 2025. As of Q1 2026, patient visits totaled 14,950, with 60 percent of them foreigners.

Another healthcare facility, The Solitaire Clinic, began operations this year, offering cosmetic surgery, medical aesthetics, body contouring, hair transplants, and anti-aging stem cell therapy.

Cumulatively, the Sanur SEZ recorded investment realization of IDR 5.37 trillion by Q1 2026, created 5,444 jobs, and attracted 279,804 tourist visits. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
