RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The government keeps on fostering the role of the financial sector in supporting national economic growth. One of the government’s main priorities is to keep the positive trend in national credit growth.

“As of March 31, 2026, the performance of the national banking intermediation sector remained strong and stable, with national credit growth reaching 10.42 percent (year-over-year),” the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs stated in a written press release on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

The main driver of this expansion came from the corporate credit sector, which grew rapidly. In addition, consumer and commercial credit also showed significant growth figures.

However, the Small Medium Enterprise (SME) credit sector recorded a slight decline during this period. The government promptly took steps to ensure the sustainability of financing for these small businesses.

Through the first quarter of 2026, the People’s Business Credit (KUR) continued to demonstrate stable performance. Its growth rate remained positive at 0.21 percent (year-on-year), with an outstanding balance of Rp522 trillion.

The government is now implementing the Post-Disaster KUR policy through new regulations in 2026. This policy is specifically designed to assist in the recovery of SMEs in disaster-affected areas.

This assistance is focused on merchants and entrepreneurs in Aceh and Sumatra. The goal is for them to be able to recover quickly and resume their businesses.

The Ministry said “Through this policy, the Government is providing comprehensive relief for existing KUR borrowers, including through loan term extensions, the granting of grace periods, and additional interest subsidies, so that the effective interest rate will be zero percent in 2026 and three percent in 2027.”

To date, the disbursement of these aid funds has reached trillions of rupiah. More than 93,000 business owners have benefited from this program.

Moving forward, the Government will align the KUR program with the nation’s key priorities. KUR will be used to support businesses that produce goods and employ a large number of workers, such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, the Three Million Homes Program, as well as the creation of new entrepreneurs and jobs.
