RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is adjusting the risk-based capital (RBC) calculation method for the insurance industry in line with international standards. The revision is being introduced through the OJK Regulation on Insurance Solvency Calculation, which is currently being finalized.

Executive Director of Insurance, Guarantee, and Pension Fund Supervision (PPDP) at the OJK, Ogi Prastomiyono, said the RBC threshold will remain unchanged. “We will likely continue to use the 120 percent RBC threshold,” Ogi stated in Jakarta on Monday, April 13, 2026.

He explained that the calculation method will align with the standards of the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS), particularly the Insurance Capital Standard (ICS), which is generally applied to large-scale insurance companies worldwide.

However, Ogi emphasized that implementation will be adapted to the conditions of Indonesia’s domestic insurance industry. “We must ensure we remain aligned with these standards,” he said.

Ogi underscored that capital is a crucial aspect of maintaining resilience in the insurance sector. To that end, the OJK is encouraging gradual equity strengthening through new policies.

Meanwhile, PT Asuransi ASEI Indonesia President Director Dody Dalimunthe said the industry is now more focused on business sustainability rather than merely pursuing premium growth. “This is crucial for the industry to remain healthy and capable of providing optimal protection for the public,” he noted.
