RRI.CO.ID, Melbourne - The Indonesian coffee industry once again took part in the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) 2026, held on March 26–28 in Melbourne, Australia. This marks the fourth consecutive year of participation, showcasing leading products from Indonesia’s coffee sector.

The Indonesian Pavilion, organized by the Indonesian Consulate General in Melbourne, the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, and the Indonesian Trade Attaché, featured three coffee producers under the Indonesian Coffee Association (ASKI).

“Strengthening global partnerships, expanding trade opportunities, and encouraging innovation and sustainability in the Indonesian coffee industry are crucial,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Canberra Siswo Pramono at the opening of the Indonesian Pavilion at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Indonesia also joined the “Trip to Origin” session, one of MICE’s flagship programs. In this session, Indonesian participants presented company profiles and introduced the characteristics of Indonesian coffee through cupping activities.

The event provided a strategic platform to expand business networks and increase global market understanding of the diversity and quality of Indonesian coffee. Among the varieties showcased was Kamojang Sigarar Utang, produced using geothermal wash and natural quick-dry methods.

Coffee businesses from the Papua Highlands introduced Arabica typica through several brands, including Papua Black Gold Coffee, Badama Coffee Yahukimo, and Ndugama Wene Coffee.

Indonesia’s participation in MICE has become a strategic avenue for boosting exports. In 2025, 53 potential transactions were recorded, totaling up to AUD 2.39 million.

MICE 2026 was attended by more than 150 exhibitors and attracted tens of thousands of visitors from various countries. The implementation of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) continues to provide a strong foundation for economic relations between the two countries.
