RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo - Indonesian business community is once again participating in "The 51st International Food and Beverages Exhibition 2026" or Foodex Japan, held at Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo, from March 10–13, 2026. Indonesia's participation in Foodex Japan 2026 is the result of collaboration between the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Industry, Bank Indonesia Tokyo, and the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC).
A total of 28 food and beverage product businesses are participating in the Indonesian Pavilion. This consists of 15 Indonesian companies curated by the Ministry of Trade and 13 Small Medium Enterprices, from Bank Indonesia's Karya Kreatif Indonesia (KKI) program, originating from West Java, Banten, DKI Jakarta, East Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, West Sumatra, Lampung, and West Papua.
"Our participation in Foodex Japan 2026 reflects Indonesia's strong commitment to expanding its footprint in the Japanese and global markets. Indonesia views Foodex Japan as a vital platform to strengthen and maintain the presence of Indonesian products in the Japanese market. I am very pleased that this year our pavilion features products from 28 extraordinary Indonesian companies and SMEs," Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Maria Renata Hutagalung, stated while opening the Indonesian Pavilion at FOODEX Japan 2026, as quoted from official statement.
"Japan has always been a key partner for Indonesia, with bilateral trade relations continuing to grow stronger. Indonesia's exports of food, beverages, and agricultural products to Japan continue to grow, reaching USD 2.13 billion, an increase of 5 percent compared to the previous year," she said.
Also in attendance were the Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo, Merry Astrid Indriasari; Head of Bank Indonesia Tokyo, Imaduddin Sahabat; Secretary General of the ASEAN–Japan Centre, Kunihiko Hirabayashi; and the Deputy Head of ITPC Osaka, Andi Camelia.
"We are optimistic that our participation in Foodex Japan 2026 can further enhance bilateral trade and business collaboration, particularly through the implementation of the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, which provides broader market access to Japan," Maria Renata said.
I encourage all exhibitors to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, explore new business partnerships, build long-term cooperation, and gain valuable market insights to strengthen their competitiveness. The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo consistently provides full support for Indonesian promotions in the food product sector to further increase the sales of Indonesian food products in the Japanese market," she conveyed.
The concrete result of Indonesia's strong presence at Foodex Japan 2026 was demonstrated by the signing of seven purchase agreements between Indonesian Pavilion participants—namely CV Hortindo Agrifarm, PT Mayora Tbk, PT Dua Kelinci, Helda’s Snack, Sila Artisan Tea, and Arva Tempe Chips and Japanese companies/buyers for a variety of products including frozen processed agricultural goods, traditional snacks, confectionery, and processed tempeh.
A wide range of products is on display at the Indonesian Pavilion in Foodex 2026, such as candies and sweets, bird's nest products, cocoa-based products, premium tea, traditional snacks, processed foods, processed agricultural products, and herbal drinks.
On the second day of the exhibition, a seminar/workshop titled "Indonesia's Selected Food & Beverages Products for the Japanese Market" was held, inviting Japanese food and beverage businesses/buyers as well as Japanese consulting partners and traders to expand business networking.
Foodex Japan 2026 is an annual trade promotion event organized by the Japan Management Association (JMA), showcasing food and beverage products as well as processed agricultural products. It is the largest B2B-concept exhibition in Japan and the East Asia region.
Every year, this exhibition attracts more than 3,000 companies/exhibitors from various countries and more than 60,000 visitors from among business actors, buyers, traders, distributors, professionals, and academicians.
