RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Trade together with the Indonesian Trade Attaché and the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C., will participate again in Seafood Expo North America (SENA) 2026. The largest seafood exhibition in North America will be held on March 15–17, 2026, in Boston, United States.
Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, stated that this participation is a strategic step to strengthen global market confidence in Indonesian fishery products, particularly shrimp.
"This participation also confirms the readiness of the national fisheries industry to meet food safety standards and sustainability principles in the international market," said Fajarini, in a written statement.
The Indonesian Pavilion will occupy booth number 2664 with an area of 55.7 square meters. Business actors from AP5I and AP2HI are ready to showcase various superior products such as shrimp, fresh and frozen tuna, processed fish, squid, cuttlefish, octopus, and demersal fish.
Fajarini added that Indonesia's presence at SENA 2026 aims to encourage sustainable fisheries practices, improve traceability, and implement transparent and responsible supply chain governance. SENA 2026 will be attended by more than 20,000 global seafood industry professionals from around 51 countries, including Canada, China, Chile, Ecuador, Vietnam, India, Norway, Japan, and Spain.
During the exhibition, the Indonesian Pavilion will conduct business matching with potential buyers as well as tasting activities for visitors to introduce the quality of Indonesian fishery products.
A business forum titled "Sustainable Tuna & Responsible Supply Chain Partnership" will also be held as a collaboration between the Government of Indonesia, the Indonesia Tuna Consortium, and the Walton Family Foundation. "This business forum is part of strengthening trade diplomacy while affirming that Indonesian tuna products prioritize sustainability and traceability principles," Fajarini conveyed.
The United States is one of the main markets for Indonesian fishery products. In 2025, the export value of Indonesian fishery products to the US reached USD 1.17 billion, with main commodities including shrimp, frozen tuna, frozen fillets, tilapia, and mollusks.
Indonesian Trade Attaché in Washington D.C., Ranitya Kusumadewi, conveyed that this participation serves as a means to strengthen the presence of national fishery products in the US market amid evolving trade policy dynamics.
Chairman of AP5I, Saut Hutagalung, appreciated the government's support. "Thank you to the Ministry of Trade and the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C. for facilitating the Indonesian Pavilion so that business actors can promote superior products in the global market," he said.
CEO of AP2HI, Janti Djuari, added that this participation is an important opportunity to introduce Indonesia's sustainable tuna fishing practices to the global market. "We want to show that Indonesian tuna is built on principles of responsibility, traceability, and respect for the sea," Janti mentioned.
