RRI.CO.ID, Gresik – ID FOOD, the Indonesian state-owned food holding company, has carried out its first export of vaname shrimp to the United States to increase the added value and competitiveness of fishery commodities. ID FOOD’s President Director, Ghimoyo, made the statement after inspecting preparations for the inaugural vaname shrimp export in Gresik, East Java, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

According to a written press release, he noted that this export demonstrates that domestic fishery products have significant potential to meet the needs of international markets. He also noted that the entire process, from procurement to shipment, is ensured to comply with established standards.

“This inaugural export is a strategic move by ID FOOD to develop the vaname shrimp market. Through integrated supply chain management, we ensure that the processes of procurement, processing, sales, and shipment are carried out in accordance with standards and the requirements of the destination country,” he said.

For this inaugural shipment, ID FOOD exported six containers of vaname shrimp, each with a capacity of approximately 17 metric tons, for a total of about 102 metric tons. The company aims for regular shipments of eight containers per month.

With a capacity of approximately 17 metric tons per container, the total export volume is projected to reach 136 metric tons of vanamei shrimp per month. By the end of 2026, ID FOOD aims to export 72 containers with a value of approximately Rp218.5 billion, or the equivalent of USD12.17 million.

ID FOOD also continues to strengthen coordination with suppliers, processing partners, and buyers to maintain product quality and ensure timely deliveries. For the U.S. market, exports are conducted through partnerships with importers RCC and Sterling Seafood Corporation.

In addition, Ghimoyo said that the marketing of vaname shrimp is also being expanded to Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, and Japan. He explained that the diversification of destination countries is being carried out to expand market reach, reduce dependence on a single region, and ensure the sustainability of the seafood export business.

The products marketed consist of two categories: raw shrimp and cooked shrimp. Varieties include PTO (Peeled Tail On), which are peeled shrimp with the tail intact, and PND (Peeled and Deveined), which are shrimp that have been peeled, cleaned, and had their dorsal veins removed, making them ready for processing.
