RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Tourism is pushing for the strengthening of licensing, standardization, and certification for tourism businesses as a key foundation for realizing quality Indonesian tourism growth in accordance with the principles of sustainability, safety, and improved service quality.

According to a press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, March 11, 2025, Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, stated that one of these efforts was through the socialization of Minister of Tourism Regulation Number 6 of 2025 concerning Business Activity Standards, Procedures for Supervision Implementation, and Administrative Sanctions in the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing in the Tourism Sector, which took place via a hybrid session at Harris Vertu Harmoni in Jakarta.

"This is the momentum for us to transform tourism governance toward a more professional, accountable, and adaptive direction to the challenges of the times," said the Minister of Tourism when opening the online socialization event.

Through Minister of Tourism Regulation Number 6 of 2025, technical adjustments were made to address changes in risk levels and the addition of new business types. This regulation is a direct derivative that provides legal certainty regarding a single standard for business activities and what business actors must prepare in terms of facilities and services.

Through this legal document, the Ministry of Tourism aims to create a simpler, more transparent, and consistent system so that business actors can thrive in an orderly and highly competitive ecosystem. The standards for implementing business activities in the tourism sector cover facilities, organization and human resources, services, product requirements, management systems, conformity assessments, and supervision.

"We understand that the successful implementation of risk-based business licensing depends not only on regulations but also on synergy between stakeholders, including the central government, regional governments, associations, certification bodies, and business actors. Therefore, this outreach is expected to provide a space for sharing understanding, strengthening coordination, and aligning steps in implementation on the ground," the Minister of Tourism stated.

The Deputy for Industry and Investment at the Ministry of Tourism, Rizki Handayani, revealed that the number of business actors undergoing certification is currently still low, at only 2 percent. Therefore, it is important to continue to disseminate this regulation to all tourism stakeholders so that they can understand the concept of setting business standards as part of business licensing, which is part of business risk mitigation that is expected to provide security, safety, and comfort for tourists.
