RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is encouraging the transformation of the construction materials industry by strengthening standardization to support the national roofing program (Program Gentingisasi Nasional). The initiative aims to increase domestic capacity and competitiveness in the roof tile and ceramic industries.

The Ministry of Industry has taken a central role in implementing the policy. The program is part of a national strategy to improve housing quality and reinforce the structure of the construction materials industry.

Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said the Gentingisasi program provides opportunities for production expansion and investment. “This Gentingisasi program is an important momentum for the national roofing and ceramics industry to increase productivity and competitiveness, while strengthening the structure of the domestic building materials industry,” he stated in Jakarta on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as quoted on the ministry’s official website.

The program, initiated by President Prabowo Subianto, is integrated into the Safe, Healthy, Resilient, Beautiful Indonesia (Gerakan Indonesia Aman, Sehat, Resik, Indah/ASRI) movement. It is designed to improve residential aesthetics while encouraging the use of eco-friendly and sustainable materials.

Head of the Industrial Services Policy and Standardization Agency (BSKJI), Emmy Suryandari, said the success of the Gentingisasi program depends on the consistent implementation of standardization and the strengthening of technical services.

“BSKJI encourages this Gentingisasi program to not only focus on increasing production volume, but also on meeting quality standards, process efficiency, and sustainability aspects. Standardization and industrial services are important instruments to ensure that national roof tile products have guaranteed quality and can compete in the domestic and global markets,” she said.

The Center for Standardization and Industrial Services for Ceramics and Non-Metal Minerals (BBSPJIKMN) stated its readiness to support implementation through consultation and technology optimization.

Head of BBSPJIKMN, Azhar Fitri, said the institution functions as a technical partner linking national policy with on-the-ground implementation. “Through consulting services and industrial technology optimization, BBSPJIKMN ensures the program runs in a measured, sustainable manner while strengthening the competitiveness of the national industry,” he said.

BBSPJIKMN provides support in implementing Indonesian National Standards (SNI), improving energy efficiency, conducting technical feasibility studies, designing factory layouts, and ensuring compliance with industrial and environmental regulations.

The government expects that collaboration between policy, industry, and technical institutions will accelerate growth in the ceramics and non-metallic minerals sector. ***
