RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Star asset fund Danantara Indonesia has introduced three flagship investment projects to drive green, sustainable economic growth.
The initiatives include a national waste-to-energy program, the development of plasma-derived pharmaceutical products, and the construction of Kampung Haji (Hajj Village) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
At the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, Danantara explained that these projects are part of 30 to 40 investment agreements currently under development. The company said the initiatives are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position on the global investment map.
Danantara Indonesia’s Managing Director of Investment, Stefanus Ade Hadiwidjaja, said the waste-to-energy project will be the company’s main focus over the next two years. He emphasized that the program is crucial because it addresses mounting waste management challenges in major cities while creating new energy sources.
“What we are developing is a national-scale waste-to-energy project that will be implemented in 30 cities across Indonesia,” Stefanus said in a statement, as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
He added that Danantara is exploring cooperation with the Swiss Chamber of Commerce to expand cross-border investment opportunities. “Through this investment, we want to tackle environmental issues while attracting global operators to make this sector a sustainable business,” he said.
The second project focuses on developing human blood plasma-derived medicinal products for the pharmaceutical industry. This initiative is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s capacity to produce essential medical drugs domestically and reduce reliance on imports.
Meanwhile, the Kampung Haji project in Mecca is designed to improve facilities and services for Indonesian pilgrims performing the Hajj and Umrah. “This project is vital because Indonesia sends the largest number of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, and we want to provide them with a better experience,” Stefanus said.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani stressed that Indonesia’s participation in WEF 2026 is part of the government’s broader economic diplomacy strategy.
The forum, held from January 19 to 22, was attended by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, Danantara Indonesia, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia). ***
