RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia has officially inaugurated the headquarters of the Asian Trade, Tourism, and Economics Council (ATTEC) in Jakarta on Monday, 19 January 2026. The Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, appreciated ATTEC as a collaboration partner to strengthen Indonesia’s exports with Asian countries.

According to the official press release, Minister Santoso stated that the council will serve as a critical bridge for business-to-business (B2B) communication. ATTEC will streamline the path for foreign investment and boost Indonesian exports across the continent.

He further emphasized that ATTEC’s role is vital in maximizing Indonesia’s existing Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with key partners, including ASEAN, China, South Korea, and Japan. He warned that without robust business networks, the benefits of such treaties remain underutilized.

"We must ensure that when an agreement is implemented, our businesses are ready to act as partners," Minister Santoso stated.

To support this, the Ministry has streamlined participation in international exhibitions by integrating cross-ministry representation into a single National Pavilion, specifically designed to help SMEs penetrate global markets like China, Indonesia’s top export destination.

The Minister also addressed common international perceptions regarding the complexity of doing business in Indonesia. He reassured the global community that doing business in Indonesia is relatively easy.

He hoped that the headquarters in Jakarta could become a strategic location for continuous business matching.

Regarding this problem, Chairman of ATTEC, Budihardjo Iduansjah, acknowledged that foreign investors often face hurdles related to language, local procedures, and regulatory nuances. He stated that ATTEC will provide hands-on assistance, guiding international stakeholders through legality and licensing processes abiding by the law.

"Through ATTEC, Indonesia will promote and champion the best national interests in the Asian region. Golden Indonesia 2045 represents a strategic momentum and a significant opportunity for international partners to invest and collaborate in supporting national economic growth," Iduansjah stated.
