Indonesia Ranks Third Globally in Islamic Economy

KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s halal economy continues to gain international recognition, ranking third in the State of the Global Islamic Economy 2024-2025. Announced Monday, November 24, 2025, in Jakarta, the milestone reflects national efforts to boost halal product exports, foster international agreements, and enhance digital certification services.

Speaking in Jakarta on Monday, November 24, Muhammad Qodari, Chief of Staff at the Presidential Staffs Office, highlighted the country’s performance in the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2024-2025, in which Indonesia ranked third worldwide for Islamic economic performance.

“This achievement demonstrates that Indonesian halal products have penetrated international markets and are recognized for their quality by the world’s largest halal consumers,” Qodari said, as quoted by Antara.

Qodari explained that the Presidential Staffs Office acts as both a guardian and accelerator of President Prabowo Subianto’s priority policies.

The policies includes: accelerating halal certification for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through inter-ministerial coordination; monitoring certification achievements and developing halal industrial zones; strengthening halal economic diplomacy; promoting digital technology to increase transparency in halal services; and supporting the tourism sector, integrated with halal-certified products and services.

He emphasized that strengthening the halal ecosystem is a key part of achieving national economic self-reliance, as outlined in President Prabowo’s eight-mission Asta Cita and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN 2025-2029).

Ahmad Haikal Hasan, Head of the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), welcomed the Presidential Staffs Office's support, calling it a step toward enhancing Indonesia’s halal ecosystem and global competitiveness.

As of 21 November 2025, BPJPH has issued 3 million halal certificates, covering 10.3 million halal-certified products.

This achievement is supported by a strengthened ecosystem of halal certification service providers, including: 116 Halal Inspection Agencies (LPH), 2. 339 Halal Product Process Assistance Agencies (LP3H), 107,089 Product Process Assistants (PPH), 25,369 trained halal supervisors, and 3,255 certified halal slaughterers.

BPJPH has also established mutual recognition agreements (MRA) with 98 foreign halal institutions, further boosting Indonesia’s position in the global halal market.

Qodari and Haikal emphasized that sustained collaboration is expected to accelerate national economic self-reliance through the development of a competitive and high-quality halal ecosystem. ***
