QRIS Transactions Volume Surges 154.86 Percent: BI

KBRN, Jakarta: Bank Indonesia (BI) reported a significant increase in transactions made through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS), which jumped 154.86 percent year-on-year (yoy) in April 2025.
BI Governor Perry Warjiyo mentioned that the growth was supported by an expanding user base and a rising number of merchants accepting QRIS payments.
"Digital payment transactions via QRIS remained strong at 154.86 percent (yoy), driven by an increase in users and merchants," Perry said at the BI's May 2025 Board of Governors Meeting (RDG) press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, as quoted by Antaranews.com.
Total digital payment transactions in April 2025 reached 3.79 billion, marking a 31.50 percent (yoy) growth, supported by increases across all components.
Mobile application transactions grew 33.14 percent (yoy), while internet-based transactions rose 8.65 percent (yoy).
Regarding infrastructure, BI reported that retail transactions processed through BI-FAST totaled 335.34 million, an increase of 42.91 percent (yoy), amounting to IDR 849.51 trillion.
Meanwhile, Perry noted that large-value transactions processed through BI-RTGS declined by 2.91 percent (yoy) to 724.03 thousand transactions, with a total value of IDR 15,293.92 trillion.
Regarding rupiah currency management, BI recorded that circulated currency (UYD) grew 7.28 percent (yoy) to IDR 1,135.22 trillion in April 2025.
Looking ahead, BI will continue expanding international payment system cooperation, including QRIS partnerships with several countries and BI-FAST interconnection through the Nexus initiative.
QRIS, developed by the Indonesian central bank, Bank Indonesia (BI), in collaboration with the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI), is currently available for use in Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore. ***
