RRI.CO.ID, Magelang - Around 30 children ranging from kindergarten to elementary school age are displaying their artistic talents at the Ruang Khayal Anak #1 (Children's Imaginary Space #1) exhibition, hosted at the Loka Budaya hall in Magelang, Central Java, through August 27, 2026.
Organized by local art collective Kelompok Yangitu Kota Magelang, the event was officially opened by Head of the Magelang Education and Culture Agency Nurwiyono Slamet Nugroho on Saturday, August 22. Featuring 46 acrylic paintings on canvas and A3 paper created over the past month, the exhibition serves as a platform to foster early childhood creativity, right-brain development, and self-confidence.
The venue also features an interactive space called the Ruang Khayal Laboratory, where visiting children can experiment with painting, alongside a live painting workshop scheduled for August 27 to wrap up the event.
Education officials and local art collective leaders underscored that early arts education plays a vital role in character building, emotional growth, and nurturing creative expression. Nurwiyono commended the art collective's initiative in supporting early childhood development.
"This exhibition forms an essential part of the educational process, particularly in building children's character from an early age, artistic creation provides inspiring value for the community and encourages young minds to explore their potential," Nurwiyono said in Magelang on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Chairman of Kelompok Yangitu Kota Magelang Kaji Habeb highlighted how visual arts help children articulate their ideas with confidence.
