RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Culture is supporting Andrea Bocelli’s Romanza 30th Anniversary World Tour Indonesia as a strategic opportunity to showcase the country’s cultural diversity to a global audience. Culture Minister Fadli Zon said the concert, which will be held at Borobudur Temple, can serve as a platform for cultural diplomacy and strengthen Indonesia’s international cultural promotion.
He made the remarks during a media briefing on Andrea Bocelli’s Romanza 30th Anniversary World Tour Indonesia at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on August 19, 2026. He said the event is in line with Indonesia’s constitutional mandate to advance national culture and promote the country’s cultural and tourism potential internationally.
“Andrea Bocelli’s presence at Borobudur Temple is a very rare opportunity, because in accordance with Article 32 Paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution, this concert can become a momentum to promote Indonesian culture to the world, while also carrying forward the spirit of promoting Indonesia’s culture and tourism,” he said.
The minister said the concert reflects cross-sector cooperation among the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Creative Economy. He emphasized that culture provides the foundation for tourism and the creative economy, creating opportunities for broader and more sustainable benefits for Indonesia.
“The concert is a collaboration between three ministries, where culture works upstream, while tourism and the creative economy are downstream,” Fadli said. He added that global exposure from the event could strengthen Indonesia’s image as a tolerant country with extraordinary cultural diversity, or “megadiversity.”
The collaboration with Bocelli will also provide opportunities for Indonesian artists and cultural practitioners to showcase their work on an international stage. Selected Indonesian musicians and local artists from Magelang, including Sanggar Lemah Urip and Avana Dance Studio, will take part in the concert series.
Shoemaker Studio Founder Prajna Murdaya said international-scale events could generate benefits across multiple sectors, including tourism, hospitality, culinary businesses and transportation. He added that such events could also create opportunities for collaboration and skills transfer for Indonesian creative talents while strengthening the country’s capacity to host major international events.
Andrea Bocelli’s Romanza 30th Anniversary World Tour Indonesia will take place at Borobudur Temple in Central Java in October 2026 and at JIExpo Kemayoran in Jakarta in November 2026. Fadli said the combination of classical music, cultural heritage and Borobudur’s historic setting represents a powerful symbol of harmony and can further strengthen Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy and international image.
