RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta - Indonesia's Special Region of Yogyakarta and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra reaffirmed their long-term cultural partnership. The commitment was announced in Yogyakarta on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The collaboration has supported musicians, arts managers, and international cultural exchanges for nearly a decade. It has also strengthened Yogyakarta's creative economy, tourism, and global cultural connections.

The commitment was conveyed during a meeting between Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and MSO representatives. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation as the partnership enters its second decade.

Head of the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Office, Ghofar Ismail, outlined the governor's expectations. He said the partnership should continue through practical programs benefiting both communities.

"The Governor hopes this well-established relationship will continue through concrete activities. This partnership is not only about exchanging programs, but also a shared effort to develop creativity and expand public access to arts and culture," he said.

Ghofar said Yogyakarta has developed a distinctive approach to orchestral performances. Local audiences can enjoy concerts in open public spaces through inclusive community-based concepts.

Chief Operating Officer of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Suzanne Dembo, praised the partnership's long-term achievements. She said Youth Music Camp participants continue showing stronger musical standards every year.

"We are very happy to be part of this journey. Every year the quality of Youth Music Camp participants continues to improve. Their standards and abilities are getting better, proving this program truly creates a positive impact," she said.

The partnership will continue through internships in Melbourne during October 2026 and expanded international cultural collaboration. Both sides view the cooperation as a long-term investment supporting Indonesia's cultural diplomacy and creative future.
