  • PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Lombok has launched the Cultural Corner (Pojok Budaya) program, transforming parts of Lombok International Airport into living displays of West Nusa Tenggara's (NTB) local heritage.
  • Beyond direct aid, the initiative aims to redefine Lombok Airport from a standard transportation node into an immersive cultural showcase that leaves a lasting positive impression on travelers.

RRI.CO.ID, Central Lombok - Lombok International Airport is transforming parts of its terminal into living displays of local heritage through its new cultural corner program. This initiative channels corporate support directly into the preservation and promotion of West Nusa Tenggara's traditional arts.

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Lombok launched the InJourney Airports Community Upskilling for Aviation initiative, known locally as Cultural Corner, to back regional cultural preservation. General Manager, Aidhil Philip Julian, said the program provides funding to support arts studios, including purchases of dance costumes and other essential supplies.

“This program is realized through the disbursement of funds that will be used to support the development of studios, including procurement of dance costumes and other supporting needs,” he said in Central Lombok on Friday, 12 June 2026.

Aidhil framed the initiative as part of InJourney’s Asta Cita number eight, which emphasizes harmony with culture and local wisdom as a foundation for national development. He added that the program aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 4, 8, and 11 by improving education quality, empowering creative economies, and preserving cultural heritage as part of sustainable development.

According to him, the program reflects the company’s commitment to safeguarding the arts and cultural identity that are central to the people of West Nusa Tenggara.

“Through this program, we want to support arts studios, cultural communities, and cultural activists so they can continue to preserve, develop, and introduce regional cultural riches to a wider audience. We believe culture is a valuable asset that must be protected and passed on to future generations," Aidhil said, as quoted by Antara.

Beyond funding, the cultural corner scheme aims to recast the airport experience: Bandara Lombok seeks to be not only a transport hub but also a showcase of local culture that leaves positive impressions on travelers.

“Through the Cultural Corner Program, Lombok Airport strives to present an atmosphere that functions as more than just an air transportation node. The initiative redefines the terminal as a display of regional culture, capable of providing memorable experiences and positive impressions for airport users,” said Aidhil.

Local arts groups welcomed the support. Chairperson of Sanggar Tari Rahayu, Rahayu Ketut Sri Rahayuningsih, expressed appreciation for the assistance. “This aid will be used to buy costumes to complete the studio’s needs, as well as to support various other necessities,” she said.

The Cultural Corner initiative represents a model of public-facing corporate cultural support, using airport space and institutional resources to strengthen local creative sectors while enhancing the travel experience. As the program unfolds, organizers and artists will likely monitor how visible cultural displays and direct funding together bolster community capacity and cultural continuity. ***
