RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The 2026 edition of Art Jakarta Gardens officially opened on Tuesday, Mei 5, 2026, transforming the lush Hutan Kota by Plataran in Senayan into a vibrant open-air gallery. Running from May 5 to May 10, 2026, the fair serves as a pivotal gathering point for Indonesia’s art ecosystem and the broader Asian art community.
VIP Relations Director of Art Jakarta, Hafidh A. Irfanda, highlighted that the event continues to champion its unique identity as an outdoor art week. “This year, there are 31 sculptures scattered across the Hutan Kota by Plataran area from participating galleries,” Hafidh said during the opening ceremony in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara.
While the outdoor space is defined by its sculpture garden, the fair also features dedicated indoor spaces for diverse mediums. The Sculpture Park serves as a major highlight of the 2026 exhibition, featuring 31 large-scale installations and sculptures that are seamlessly integrated into the natural forest landscape.
Additionally, gallery tents provide two specialized indoor spaces to house paintings and mixed-media works from 26 local and Asian galleries. The event also showcases significant international growth, as this year welcomes five new galleries from the Asian region, including participants from Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, and Seoul.
“This reflects the increasing enthusiasm of art practitioners as well as the growing opportunities for international exposure for Indonesian artists,” Hafidh added.
Following the conclusion of Art Jakarta Gardens this weekend, the organization has announced several upcoming major events to keep the momentum going. The Art Jakarta (Main Fair) is officially scheduled to take place from October 2–4, 2026, at the JI Expo Kemayoran.
Furthermore, the organization will host Art Jakarta Papers, which is set to run from February 18–21, 2027, at Pondok Indah Mall 3.
The event receives strategic support from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Creative Economy, alongside partnerships with financial institutions aimed at building a sustainable art ecosystem in Indonesia.
