RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ approach to introducing the services of the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) in public spaces has received positive responses from the public, including Generation Z. Through the Gas Nikah and Gemah (Friday Movement) KUA ASRI (Safe, Healthy, Clean, Beautiful) activities held during Car Free Day (CFD) in Kuningan, Jakarta, education on marriage registration and environmental awareness was delivered in an interactive way.

A resident, Shaka (24), considered the activity a fresh and engaging way to introduce KUA services to the public. “The service feels more humane and less rigid,” Shaka said, as quoted from the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ website on Monday.

According to him, the presence of the Gas Nikah Corner makes it easier for people to understand marriage procedures without having to visit a KUA office directly. He also appreciated the relaxed approach of officiants when interacting with visitors.

Similarly, another resident, Zia (22), said she was interested in the concept, which she found more relevant to the lifestyle of young people. “It’s not just about marriage, but also about the environment. The delivery is relaxed, so it’s easier to understand,” she said.

She added that the series of activities, ranging from the main stage, group exercise sessions, to service booths, encouraged people to actively participate rather than just be spectators.

Director General of Islamic Community Guidance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abu Rokhmad, said the approach is part of efforts to bring KUA services closer to the public. He noted that CFD provides a strategic space to educate the public while building collective awareness.

“We encourage people every Friday to take time to clean their work environment, which then extends to the surrounding community as part of the KUA ASRI Movement,” Abu Rokhmad said.

He added that the initiative targets not only KUA offices but also the broader community as part of strengthening religious values through environmental awareness.

He also emphasized the importance of increasing marriage registration. He noted that the trend of marriage registration in 2025 has risen and needs to be further encouraged through broader education efforts.

“Increased marriage registration reflects efforts to promote the Prophet’s sunnah while encouraging compliance with the Marriage Law,” he said.
