Indonesia Bolsters the Wellness Industry Thru the Bali Spirit Festival 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, appreciates the consistent organization of the Bali Spirit Festival as one of the national flagship intellectual property (IP) events and a representation of strengthening Indonesia's position in the continuously growing global wellness industry.
"I appreciate the organization of the Bali Spirit Festival 2026 and am pleased to directly experience the energy brought by this festival." "For four days, from April 15 to 19, 2026, this festival demonstrates that Indonesia is capable of hosting world-class IP events, which we also support thru the Event by Indonesia program,"Minister of Tourism Widiyanti said during her visit to the Bali Spirit Festival 2026 at Puri Padi & Yoga Barn, Ubud, Gianyar, Bali, on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
Bali Spirit Festival is one of the pioneering international yoga and wellness festivals in Southeast Asia. This year, the festival carries the theme "Welcome Home," blending yoga, dance, music, and traditional healing practices into a series of holistic activities.
In addition, this festival also reaffirms its commitment to sustainability thru the reduction of plastic use, waste management, and the implementation of composting toilets as part of environmentally friendly practices.
During his visit, the Minister of Tourism reviewed various main activities, including the media center, Dharma Fair showcasing a variety of wellness packages, a culinary area with healthy and vegan food options, and The Grooves Stage to watch the "Hatha Flow" yoga session.
Based on data from the Global Wellness Institute in 2023, Indonesia is the largest contributor to the wellness economy in Southeast Asia, with a value reaching 56.4 billion USD. Indonesia also ranks 6th largest in the Asia-Pacific region and recorded the 3rd highest growth in that area.
The Minister of Tourism emphasized that the Bali Spirit Festival aligns with the direction of the Ministry of Tourism's policy in promoting quality tourism, particularly in the wellness tourism sector that is oriented toward sustainability and economic added value.
In the 2025 event, the Bali Spirit Festival recorded an economic turnover of IDR 6.7 billion, impacting various sectors, from accommodation, culinary, labor, to cultural artists.
"As one of the pioneers of international-scale wellness events in Indonesia, and even the largest in Southeast Asia, participation from more than 60 countries shows its growing appeal on a global level,"she said.
To conclude the series of visits, the Minister of Tourism held a discussion with event industry players at Plataran Ubud, including the Bali Spirit Festival, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, and Ubud Village Jazz Festival, to strengthen the strategic synergy between festival organizers and the Ministry of Tourism.
