RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Creative Economy continuously bolsters the creative economy ecosystem through international collaboration driven by innovation, technology, and culture. This effort was reflected in a meeting between Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, and a French delegation as part of the ICC Immersion Indonesia/Singapore program held on April 11–16, 2026.

Irene Umar, emphasized that Indonesia holds significant potential in the development of the global creative economy, particularly in subsectors that integrate art and technology.

“Indonesia has strong creative talent and rich cultural diversity. We are very open to cross-country collaborations, especially those combining art, technology, and immersive experiences. This aligns with our goal of making the creative economy the new engine of growth,” Irene Umar conveyed at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Monday, April 13, 2026.

She also encouraged the French delegation to gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s creative ecosystem through direct interaction with creative practitioners in cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali. This initiative is expected to open opportunities for knowledge exchange and strengthen networks among industry players.

“We want this collaboration to go beyond discussions and lead to concrete partnerships, whether through co-production, creative residencies, or joint IP development,” she conveyed.

The ICC Immersion program, initiated by the French Embassy in Indonesia through Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI) in collaboration with Business France, involves 12 French companies from subsectors including architecture and museography, immersive experiences and gaming, as well as music, cultural heritage, and live events.

IFI Director Jules Irrmann stated that Indonesia is a strategic partner in the development of the creative industry in Southeast Asia.

“We see Indonesia as a highly dynamic creative ecosystem with strong young talent. This program connects French industry players with Indonesian partners to foster innovative and sustainable joint projects,” he said.

During the meeting, the French delegation also shared their approaches and experiences in immersive arts, creative technology, music production, and museum and cultural heritage management as references for potential projects in Indonesia.

This meeting is part of the implementation of Indonesia–France bilateral cooperation in the creative economy, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2025 covering subsectors such as film, animation, crafts, culinary arts, fashion, games, and design.

Through this engagement, the Ministry aims to accelerate the realization of collaboration in the form of joint projects, talent exchange, and innovation development aligned with the needs of the global creative industry.
