Lebaran Betawi 2026 Highlights Betawi Traditions in Global Jakarta

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The 2026 Lebaran Betawi (Betawi Eid) will be held from April 10–12, 2026, at Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta. The annual event aims to promote and strengthen Betawi cultural identity while showcasing Jakarta’s transformation into a global metropolis.

Chairman of Pemuda Kaum Betawi, Masykur Isnan, said the Betawi Eid celebration has been held for nearly 16 years and continues to evolve in terms of concept and community participation.

“This year, we have chosen a theme that combines Betawi traditions with Jakarta’s vision as a global city,” Masykur told PRO3 RRI on Saturday, April 11, 2026. He added that the three-day program will feature a diverse cultural agenda.

According to him, Lebaran Betawi 2026 is not only a platform for cultural preservation but also for strengthening unity and sharing local wisdom with the wider community. The event reflects collaboration between the Betawi people and the Jakarta Provincial Administration in preserving local culture.

“We want to show that the Betawi people continue to maintain their traditions amid globalization, while remaining open to change,” he said. He emphasized that the celebration is not only for Betawi residents but for all communities in Jakarta and the surrounding areas.

Betawi Eid, traditionally held in Shawwal month, a few days after Eid al-Fitr, is a cultural celebration of friendship and togetherness.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo selected Lapangan Banteng as the venue for the 2026 event, citing its renovated facilities and accessibility. “This is an annual tradition, but it is the first time it will be held at Lapangan Banteng. I chose this location because it has been renovated,” he said.
